The ‘Summer Meltdown’ took place in August 2022 on the site of the former Wangerland naval base near Wilhelmshaven, which was transformed into a leisure park with access to nearby beautiful North Sea beaches.
The highlight was its own swimming lake with a sandy beach, bar and DJs, which provided the ideal setting for sophisticated beach parties.
The Event
‘Couldn't you do a rally like the Meltdown in the summer?’ was a question frequently asked over the years. It was supposed to happen in 2020, but we couldn't get started until 2022 because of Covid.
Wangerland is a former naval base near Wilhemshaven, just a few kilometres from beautiful North Sea beaches, which has been transformed into a leisure park.
The concept was similar to Meltdown: pay once, enjoy everything for free.
On the site, we used the hotels, pubs, bars and a restaurant, etc. - similar to Wunderland, but the area was smaller.
The heart of the event was one of the best things about a rally in August: our own swimming lake with a sandy beach, bar and DJs, where we organised sophisticated beach parties.
